Memorial Day weekend, the start of summer and my favorite season in the Valley!   Each week, I take a look at events and happenings in The Valley and choose three things that look adventurous from Aspen down to Glenwood Springs. Here are my picks of the week:

Memorial Ski & See @ Aspen Mountain | May 27-May 29, 2017
Celebrate Memorial Day with either skiing or sightseeing up at the top of Aspen Mountain!
Bonus summer skiing on Aspen Mountain. Discover 130 acres of terrain with the Ajax Express lift spinning for skiing from 10:00am – 2:00pm and the Silver Queen Gondola will be running from 10:00am – 4:00pm for sightseeing. Sightseeing tickets are 10% off through June 4!   The Aspen Mountain Ticket Office is open Saturday - Monday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Basalt Pet Parade@ Basalt Elementary School | Tuesday May, 30 2017 @ 2:00 pmIf there is a pet anything, I’ll cover it!   Head on over to Basalt and look at all the adorable pets in the pet parade! Parade starts at the Basalt Elementary School (Cottonwood Drive) and ends at Lions Park. If you are walking, meet at 1:30. Dress your pup up and win a prize for best costume! No pet? No problem. Come out and watch the parade! Hosted by Basalt Middle School and Colorado Animal Rescue.

Planet Earth II: Diaries @ Belly Up Aspen | Wednesday, May 31, 2017 @ 7:00 pm
& 9:00 pm
There are two shows to see Planet Earth II: Diaries 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm and the cost is FREE.   The diaries take a look at the behind-the-scenes perspective from the Planet Earth II film crew as they document the amazing stories featured in the film, Planet Earth II.    The film itself features Sir David Attenborough narrating a compelling view of the planet and was the first natural history documentary to be filmed in HD. 96% “Liked” Score on Rotten Tomatoes.

It is a biking weekend here in The Valley so get out there and ride! Between Aspen’s Ride The Pass, Carbondale’s BONEdale week and Glenwood Springs’ ride to work, it’s a true Colorado experience!

Each week, I take a look at events and happenings in The Valley and choose three things that look adventurous from Aspen down to Glenwood Springs. Here are my picks of the week: Ride for the Pass, Bike Park Competition in Carbondale, and to top off the weekend, head over to the Riviera Supper Club and Piano Bar in Glenwood for their Great Gatsby Murder Mystery Supper Party.

Aspen: Ride For The Pass @ Independence Pass
Saturday, May 20 @ 10 am
The Ride for the Pass is a recreational ride and road bike race up Highway 82 toward Independence Pass that allows riders to enjoy this beautiful Scenic Byway BEFORE it is opened to cars for the season (The Pass is scheduled to open Thursday, May 25). The Ride benefits the Independence Pass Foundation’s restoration work on the Pass.
There are two races and it’s a fun time for the entire family.

Costs are
Cycling 2-mile family: $50
Cycling 2-mile individual: $25
Cycling 10-miles family: $75
Cycling 10-miles individual: $45

After Ride Party @ St. Regis
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The Ride is followed by a party at the St. Regis featuring free beer and other beverages and dozens of fantastic drawing prizes donated by Roaring Fork Valley businesses

Carbondale: Bonedale Bike Week @ Downtown Carbondale
May 19 - May 25, 2017
A week-long celebration of bikes & the people who ride them. CarBondale without the “car” Bonedale Bike Week is a five day celebration of the best way to get around Car(LESS)bondale!

What started as free coffee and donuts for bike commuters during the week turned into a special bike specific event each day of the week, starting off on Saturday, May 20 with their Bike Jam Bike Park Competition @ North Face Park. Carbondale: Bonedale Bike Jam Bike Park Competition @ North Face Bike Park
May 20 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
North Face Bike Park, Meadowood Dr
The 3rd Annual free ride contest at Carbondale’s bike park. From Striders to Pros, there will be many divisions and contests. Pump track time trials, best trick jam sessions, and more!

Glenwood Springs: Great Gatsby Party @ Riviera Supper Club & Piano Bar
Saturday May 20 @ 8:30 pm
Get your bessie clothes out and head on over the the Riviera Supper Club & Piano Bar for a fun Great Gatsby themed murder mystery dinner!   Reservations are required and space is filling up. Call 970-945-7692 or email: travis@rivieraglenwood.com.
