Summer, my favorite season! If you are not familiar with this site, each week I take a look at events and happenings in The Valley and choose three things that look adventurous from Aspen down to Glenwood Springs. Here are my picks of the week: Cooking School of Aspen Apple Tart Tatin, Free Concert on the Hill Featuring Brothers Keeper and John Popper, and Balloon Festival at Crown Mountain Park.
Aspen: Apple Tart Tatin @ Aspen Cooking School | Sunday, June 25 | 2:00 PM
According to Cooking School of Aspen, the Apple Tart Tatin was created by accident at the Hotel Tatin in Lamotte-Beuvron France in the 1800’s. With the intention of baking an apple pie, the Baker, Stephanie Tatin, left the apples cooking in the sugar too long. But after saving the dish and serving it to her guests (who apparently loved it so much) the Apple Tarte Tatin was born.
The tart tatin is an upside-down pastry in which the fruit is caramelized in butter and sugar before the tart is baked. Learn the technique to make this amazing dish. Kids welcome, too!
Cost is $55.00 register here
