Kids Are The VIPs In Snowmass

GoSnowmass just launched their VIK—Very Important Kid—program for the 2016–2017 season. This is a great addition to all of the other kid-friendly happenings around The Valley. The VIK program offers events for every day of the week. You can visit http://viksnowmass.com for more details. But, for your convenience, I’ve posted the schedule below.   However, I do recommend calling ahead and confirming these activities are still happening.

Mondays
3:30 - 4:30 pm: Sing-Along and S’mores
What: A cozy fire, yummy s’mores, and a guitar-strummin’ cowboy bring friends and families together during this entertaining après activity.
Where: Snowmass Base Village Fire Pit
When: Mondays & Fridays, December 19 – April 14 @ 3:30-4:30pm
Cost: FREE, children must be accompanied by an adult

4:30 - 5:30 pm: Wildside with ACES
What: Join a Naturalist from the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) for a fun and informative presentation featuring live animals. Animal guests may include ACES’ resident Great Horned Owl, Boa Constrictor, Tarantula and more. All ages welcome.

When: Mondays, December 19 through April 10 @ 4:30-5:30pm

Tuesdays
3:30 - 4:30 pm: Kids’ Crafts
What: Designed for families with children 3 years and older, this hour-long program ensures your child will head home with a special, handmade, arts and crafts souvenir
Where: Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center
When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, December 20 through April 13 @ 3:30 – 4:30 pm
Ages: 3 years and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

4:00 - 5:00 pm: All Access Snowmass
What: An “insider’s” edition of VIK, this fun, educational program gives kids (and their parents) a behind-the-scenes peek at life in a mountain town, featuring patrol dogs, snowmaking and much more. Adult supervision required.

5:30 – 9:00 pm Ullr Nights:  December 27, February 21 and March 21
What: In honor of the Norse God of Snow — Ullr — Elk Camp is transformed into a nighttime winter wonderland. Guests can make a night of it, with classic winter activities, such as ice skating, sledding, guided snowshoe tours with ACES, snowbiking, snow tubing, and a visit to Ullr’s ghost ship. Enjoy an a la carte culinary celebration with live music, and top it off with s’mores and hot chocolate by the campfire. Snow tubing is available for one-hour sessions beginning at 5:30pm, 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm and 7:30pm. Tickets required, reservations recommended.

Wednesdays
3:30 - 4:30 pm: Storytelling
What:: Storytelling At The Ice Age Discovery Center
Gather at the Ice Age Discovery Center to hear some of the tallest tales in the West recounted by master storytellers. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

What: Cookie Decorating: Kids will love decorating … and eating… cookies for all seasons. For children ages 3 and up; must be accompanied by an adult.

Thursdays
10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Rec Center Fun
What: Family Day at the Snowmass Village Recreation Center
Play in the outdoor heated saline pools. Pick up a basketball game in the gymnasium or test your agility on the climbing wall and bouldering cave. Every Saturday, you and your family will have full access to all the amenities at the Snowmass Village Recreation Center at a discounted rate. Refreshments are available for purchase.

What:  Children of all ages will enjoy a variety of free activities, including face painters, balloon artists, dancers, a live DJ, après specials and more. Snowmass’ Ice Age mascot, Snowy the Mammoth, stops by 2:30-3:30pm for photo ops and fun. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

What: Can Jammin’ Jim juggle a flaming torch, a flaming knife and a flaming bowling ball? You’ll find out during this fun family event, a high-energy variety show, featuring juggling, magic, balloons, music, and comedy, all designed to amaze and mesmerize kids of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

4:00 – 5:00 pm:  Postcards from Snowmass
What: Snowmass offers so much to write home about. This fun new program gives children ages 3 and up, and their parents, the chance to color a one-of-a-kind Snowmass postcard. Materials and stamps provided.
